Winters boast warm temperatures and lovely weather with temperate waters perfect for swimming, while summers are balmy also with warm ocean waters and rainfall more likely.

As Townsville lies east to west it gets less rain than neighbouring coastal towns such as Port Douglas and Palm Cove as they are sprawled from south to north leading to much more rainfall.

Due to its fantastic weather Townsville is a popular destination, especially in winter as it remains sunny and warm.
